Lifescaper Coaching: "The Root Of All Problems"

by Jeffrey T. Brownstein, 11/16/07

Most people have an idea of what their 'perfect world' would look like. Perhaps yours might include the ideal job, endless finances, an ever-passionate relationship, a body free of all health concerns...

All admirable goals, but the problem arises when we fall into the trap of constantly measuring ourselves up - scrutinizing where we are (and where we're not) on the scale of our ideals. For most people there's a noticable gap, and having everything we want can seem a tough game to win.

Simply put, we often get attached to the way things should be, and fail to accept the way things are.

"My manager should have recognized me for the work I did." "My husband should never have yelled at me." "My body should be in perfect shape"...

Should should should. Bah, rubbish.

The root of our problems can almost certainly be found in the intensity of our 'shoulds'. When you live a 'should' existence, you're effectively telling the Universe "Something isn't right here." (in other words, things should be different) And by virtue of attraction, you are delivered more things which are wrong.

The way out - and in my estimation, the way to happiness - is to sever all ties with should. Bring yourself back to the moment, and openly embrace the way things are (and the way they aren't) right now. In doing so, the Universe receives a much different message. It hears, "Everything is perfect. Things are just as they are supposed to be." And with that simple shift in thought, you will be granted more manifestations of what you want, and less of what you don't. Guaranteed.

Until next time...

With love,

-Jeff
